Cate Blanchett will attend a special screening of her new film “Tár” at the Adelaide Film Festival this week.

Blanchett has already won the Award for Best Actress for her role in the film at the recent Venice Film Festival. She also served as executive producer on the project.

Now, Blanchett will walk the red carpet and participate in a Q&A hosted by Mat Kesting, CEO and creative director of the festival. The event will take place at Adelaide’s heritage Capri Theatre in Adelaide’s Goodwood on Friday, Oct. 21.

Kesting said the AFF is honoured to host Blanchett as its guest.

“Her incredible body or work marks her as one of the greatest actors of her generation and she is much loved by Adelaide Film Festival audiences. We can’t wait to show them her remarkable performance in “Tár”,” he said.

The festival kicks off on Wednesday, Oct. 19 and runs until Oct. 30.

Members of the band The Angels will attend the world premiere of “The Angels: Kickin’ Down the Door”, and will then perform at the Opening Night After Party.

The AFF Closing Night Gala will be attended by several actors from “Talk to Me” – including Alexandra Jensen, Otis Dhanji, Joe Bird, Marcus Johnson and Sonny Johnson – as well as directors Danny and Michael Philippou (Racka Racka).

Kesting added: “I am also hugely excited that so many of the cast of “Talk to Me” will be at our Closing Night Gala event for the much-anticipated world premiere of the feature debut from Mark and Danny Philipou who have millions of fans around the world from their YouTube channel. And a warm Adelaide welcome to all of our guests who will be joining us this year.”

Andrea Michaels, the state’s minister for the arts, said the AFF team is to be congratulated for curating an outstanding program.

“I am particularly pleased to see the program opens and closes with local South Australian talent. The South Australian Government’s additional $2 million investment to annualise the AFF will give a major boost to the contribution already made by the AFF to the local creative sector over the past 20 years,” Michaels said.
