‘Five Blind Dates’ Makes Cast Announcement

“Five Blind Dates” has revealed further casting details as production continues in Sydney.

The film is Prime Video Australia’s first feature produced by Amazon Studios and Goalpost Pictures Australia.

The Amazon Original is a romantic comedy which tells the story of a tenacious tea shop owner, Lia, who is told by a fortune teller that she will find her soulmate on one of the next five dates she goes on.

Goalpost’s Kyle du Fresne is producer on the project, while Ben Grant and Rosemary Blight are executive producers. Shuang Hu and Nathan Romas Park co-wrote and produced the project and Shawn Seet (pictured above with Hu) is directing.

Hu (“The Family Law”, “Ronny Chieng: International Student”) will also star as Lia, the main character, while Renee Lim (“Please Like Me”, “Clickbait”) is Jing, Lia’s mum. Lia’s dad, Xien, will be played by Tzi Ma (“Mulan, “Rush Hour”).

In addition, Yoson An (“Mulan”, “The Plane”) plays Richard, Jon Prasida (“Kung Fu”, “Tomorrow When the War Began”) is Ezra, Desmond Chaim (“With Love”, “Reef Break”) is Apollo, Ilai Swindells (“Slide”, “Redfern Now”) is Mason, Rob Collins (“Total Control”, “Firebite”) is Curtis, and Tiffany Wong (“Prey School”) is Lia’s sister, Alice.

Director Seet is excited by the cast.

“I am so thrilled by this wonderful cast, led by the multi-talented Shuang Hu, who with Nathan Ramos Park, has delivered a story that audiences around the world will fall in love with, as I did when I first read it,” he said.

Prime Video said since 2019, it had commissioned 15 Amazon Original series in Australia including “LOL: Last One Laughing AU” with Rebel Wilson, “Back to the Rafters” and “Luxe Listings Sydney“.
