HBO Max has today confirmed the premiere date of a new six-episode Australian-led comedy series “Make That Movie,” fronted by Sam Campbell and Aaron Chen.
Created by Campbell, “Make That Movie” follows a chaotic, high-concept premise: a self-assured filmmaker travels across the country searching for everyday people with ideas for feature films, before attempting to bring those ideas to life in just three days. Campbell stars as the fast-talking director at the centre of the experiment, leading a small crew tasked with pulling off the near-impossible turnaround.
Chen co-stars as Sebastian, an intimacy coordinator within the fictional production team, alongside a supporting cast that includes Lara Ricote (“Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping,” “Break Clause”) as runner Jess, Helen Bauer (“Am I Being Unreasonable?”) as sound engineer Pat, and David Hargreaves (“This Country”) as cinematographer Winnie.
“Make That Movie” will officially premiere on Friday, May 29th on HBO Max.
The series, directed by Joe Pelling and produced by Blink Industries, was originally commissioned by Channel 4, with Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy, and Joe Hullait, Commissioning Executive, overseeing the project.
Executive producers include Adam Tandy, James Stevenson Bretton, Campbell and Pelling, with William Kay producing. BBC Studios is handling global sales.
