Stan Original series “Invisible Boys” is heading to the US.

On Thursday, it was announced that the show, which was adapted from Holden Sheppard’s award-winning novel and first premiered locally in February 2025, has been sold to Hulu.

Set against the backdrop of the 2017 same-sex referendum, the 10-part series was filmed in Perth and Geraldton, where Sheppard grew up.

The show stars a string of up and coming and established Australian talent, including Joseph Zada, Aydan Calafiore, Zach Blampied, Joe Klocek, Pia Miranda and David Lyons.

Other notable names include Shareena Clanton, Myles Pollard, Elaine Crombie, Hayley McElhinney, Steve Le Marquand and Khan Chittenden.

“Invisible Boys” is written, and directed by Logie and AACTA award-winning creator and director Nicholas Verso (“Crazy Fun Park,” “Boys in the Trees”), while Sheppard is also featured on the writing team.

“Queer storytelling is having a moment, and it has never felt more important,” Verso said in a statement today.

“I’m thrilled that our horny, sweaty Australian contribution is coming to U.S. audiences. I can’t wait for viewers to fall in love with these messy boys and their journey towards strength, pride and compassion.”

In an interview with Variety Australia last year, stars Joseph Zada and Aydan Calafiore spoke about the importance of the series.

“It will definitely give people the opportunity to see the power of being able to express yourself the way you want to – and perhaps the dangers of not doing that,” Zada said.

Calafiore added: “It’s a very important story, a story that has been told many times in that it’s about teenagers growing up in Australia, but I feel like a lot just aren’t told in a way that is as raw and real as this one.”

The news comes only a week after another Stan Original, “The F Ward,” became the fastest-selling Australian drama of all time and sold to 100 markets around the world.
