Prime Video has dropped the official trailer for the much-anticipated Australian version of “The Office,” premiering October 18th.

As the 13th iteration of the global hit franchise, this version makes history as the first to feature a female lead. Felicity Ward (“Time Bandits,” “The Inbetweeners 2”) stars as Hannah Howard, the new managing director of Flinley Craddick.

In the trailer, Ward’s character makes a major announcement to her staff: “As of today, we are all back in the office full-time,” which is met with less enthusiasm than she hoped: “What? That’s not good news.”

The series features an ensemble of Australian and New Zealand comedy talent, including Edith Poor (“The Power of the Dog”), Steen Raskopoulos (“The Duchess”), Shari Sebbens (“The Sapphires,” “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Josh Thomson (“How to Please a Woman,” “Young Rock”), and Susan Ling Young (“Reckoning,” “Hungry Ghosts”).

In “The Office,” Hannah Howard is the managing director of packaging company Flinley Craddick. When she gets news from Head Office that they will be shutting down her branch and making everyone work from home, she goes into survival mode, making promises she can’t keep in order to keep her “work family” together.

The staff of Flinley Craddick indulge her and must endure Hannah’s outlandish plots as they work toward the impossible targets that have been set for them.

The Australian version of “The Office” follows versions in France, Canada, Israel, India, and more countries. Earlier this year, a new iteration of “The Office” in the US was picked up to series at Peacock. It is, however, not a reboot or spinoff of “The Office,” but rather a new mockumentary show with a new cast set in the same universe.

The eight-part Australian Amazon Original series “The Office” is co-produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios, and is based on a BBC Studios format. The series was developed for Australia by writers Julie De Fina (“Aftertaste”) and Jackie van Beek (“The Breaker Upperers”), with the pair also serving as executive producers. Kylie Washington (“Return to Paradise”) is executive producer with lead producer Sophia Zachariou (“Ladies in Black,” “The Moth Effect”) and producer Linda Micsko (“The Letdown,” “Laid”).
