Michael Cassel Group, the live entertainment producer behind the Australian runs of “& Juliet,” “Hamilton,” “Dear Evan Hansen” and other hot shows, promotes Annelies Crowe to deputy head of production, and taps Anna Fox as creative development manager.

Crowe, associate producer for the Australian and international tours of “Hamilton” and “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical,” rises to deputy head of production overseeing all Australian productions including the Australian premieres of “Titanique,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” “MJ” and “Beetlejuice” and the return of “Hamilton” to Sydney.

Previously, Crowe served in senior production roles with Sydney Theatre Company. In her new role, Crowe reports to Todd Lacy, head of production, who will continue to oversee all production activity, including the company’s global roll out of original content and major international tours.

“Annelies’ pursuit of excellence, her unwavering commitment to ensuring our productions are world class,” comments Sydney-based CEO and producer Michael Cassel, “and her inexhaustible passion for theatre and her incredible leadership skills make her the ideal person to shepherd our Australian slate from concept to completion. Along with Todd Lacy’s tremendous experience and with his guidance, I am thrilled to have such an expert team to care for our productions all over the world.”

Meanwhile, Fox joins the company as creative development manager, based in London. Fox is a director, dramaturg and writer, boasting more than a decade of experience in regional, international and West End theatre.

Most recently, she served as associate director of the musical “& Juliet” in the U.K. and Australia. She reports to head of creative development Jane Abramson, who is based in New York.

“With a number of development projects now underway in London, we absolutely knew we wanted Anna to join our team to lead this charge,” adds Cassel. “With Jane in New York, Anna in London, and the entire Michael Cassel Group teams in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore, we are able to nurture and support our development projects and creative partners around the world.”

“& Juliet,” the Max Martin jukebox that popped in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, retelling the greatest famous love story of them all with some of the all-time pop gems, was the inaugural winner of the Variety Live Biz Breakfast award for best Australian theatre.

“Hamilton,” which returns in late July 2024 for another run at Sydney Lyric Theatre, was shortlisted for the 2024 prize.
