“Big Brother” will be back in 2023 on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
This time around, however, the casting call has only gone out to those who are unattached.
Other requirements include being aged 18 or older on June 31, 2022 and certain availabilities throughout September, October and November.
Applications close on Sept. 10.
The Seven Network revived “Big Brother” in 2020 as part of CEO James Warburton’s revamp of the network’s content slate.
A key pillar of his new strategy included shorter runs of proven hits – such as “The Voice Australia”, “Australian Idol” and “Big Brother” – even if they previously ran on other networks.
“Big Brother”, for example, ran on Channel 10 from 2001 to 2008, before making the move to Channel Nine for three seasons from 2012 to 2014.
Both the Channel 9 and the renewed Channel 7 editions of the show were hosted by Sonia Kruger.
Warburton said the new “Big Brother” had changed the game for the network.
“The start of our new content-led growth strategy with “Big Brother” has driven huge demographic and BVOD results and taken us back to number one, not just in total people but in the core demographic of 25 to 54s,” he said after the 2020 season. “When we get our 7:30 p.m. tent-pole strategy competitive, our dominant spine of “Sunrise”, “The Morning Show”, “The Chase”, “Seven News”, “Home and Away” and the AFL sees us dominate the ratings,” he said.
Angus Ross, Seven Network’s programming director, echoed Warburton’s sentiment.
“The game really has changed. And the best part is this is just the beginning of our new content strategy as we continue to work more with great content partners like Endemol Shine,” he said.
