The ABC has announced a new six-part drama series, led by First Nations actor Hunter Page-Lochard and acclaimed actress Kat Stewart, “Fortitude Valley.”
Created with Screen Australia and Screen Queensland, the Moving Floor Entertainment production will begin filming in Brisbane in April. ABC’s Head of Scripted, Rachel Okine, said the national broadcaster is “delighted to be back in Brisbane and partnering with such a stellar creative team to bring ‘Fortitude Valley’ to the ABC.”
The official synopsis describes “Fortitude Valley” as a “suspenseful crime thriller set in the sunshine and shadow of Queensland’s capital city, exploring family secrets, the corrupting force of power, and the complicated truths behind the lies we tell.”
Page-Lochard, known for “Reckless”, “The Newsreader” and more, will star in the show, alongside Stewart, whose credits include “Offspring”, “Black Snow” Season 2, “Five Bedrooms” and more.
Okine added: “We can’t wait to share every twist and turn with our audiences; they are in for a real treat.”
Screen Australia’s Director of Narrative Content, Louise Gough, said “Fortitude Valley” has “all the elements to resonate with Australian and global audiences alike. With exceptional creative talent both behind and in front of the camera, production and post in Queensland, this is a story designed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.”
Moving Floor Entertainment’s Co-Founders, Leigh McGrath and Stephen M Irwin, added: “To be working again with our national broadcaster and filming in our home town of Brisbane – where the show is set – is a privilege. We are especially proud of the cast and crew we have assembled for the series, spearheaded by the amazing Hunter Page-Lochard and Kat Stewart.”
