DC Studios has released the new Super Bowl trailer for “Supergirl,” starring Milly Alcock.

The teaser shows a glimpse into Kara Zor-El’s life on her home planet of Krypton before it was destroyed, her first time meeting her super-powered dog, Krypto, and battling enemies after her appearance at the end of James Gunn’s “Superman.”

The film’s logline reads, “When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.”

Supergirl seems to take a more cynical approach to life in comparison to her cousin, Superman, stating, “He sees the good in everyone. And I see the truth.”

The film is based on the comic series “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” by Tom King. In the comic, Supergirl and a young alien girl named Knolle travel across the galaxy to hunt down Krem of the Yellow Hill after he murders Knolle’s father.

Also set to star are Matthias Schoenaerts as the lead villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills; Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, a girl who recruits Supergirl to bring Krem to justice for killing her father; David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Supergirl’s parents; and Jason Momoa as the alien mercenary Lobo.

Ana Nogueira penned the screenplay and Craig Gillespie serves as director.
