Former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden recently told CBS Sunday Morning that she thought her husband, Joe Biden, was having a stroke on stage during his now infamous 2024 debate with Donald Trump.

“I don’t know what happened,” Dr. Biden said. “As I watched it, I thought, ‘Oh, my god, he’s having a stroke.’ And it scared me to death.”

CBS’s full story with Dr. Biden is set to premiere on May 31, just two days before the release of her book “View from the East Wing.” The memoir will explore the former First Lady’s perspective as Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race.

While some were concerned about Joe Biden running against Trump for his second term, the demands for his withdrawal became overwhelming after a disastrous debate against Trump. When asked if she was “horrified” watching her husband struggle on stage, Dr. Biden said, “I was frightened, because I had never ever seen Joe like that before or since. Never.”

George Clooney was among the most vocal in calling for Joe Biden to bow out of the race. He expressed his thoughts in a New York Times op-ed published in July 2024.

“I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president,” Clooney wrote. “I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he’s won many of the battles he’s faced.”

“But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time,” he continued, “None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
