SmoothFM and 3AW have once again topped Sydney and Melbourne respectively in the latest GfK radio ratings, while KIIS suffered a second consecutive ratings decline following the departure of Kyle and Jackie O.

The fourth GfK radio ratings survey of 2026 (survey period Sunday, April 19th to Saturday, June 27th) delivered a mixed result for the country’s biggest broadcasters.

Sydney

SmoothFM have once again won the Sydney radio wars, even increasing their share by 0.3 points to 13.4%, well clear of 2GB on 11.7%. The real movement, however, is further down the ladder – GOLD101.7 has taken the market’s biggest hit, and KIIS1065’s Breakfast (can we call it a show yet?) has lost ground for a second straight survey. Overall movers, ABC Sydney led the gainers, up 0.7 to 5.3%, with SEN 1170am and 2JJJ both up 0.4 (to 1.9% and 3.7%).

GOLD101.7 suffered the biggest slide, down 1.4 points to 7.6% – its cume also dropped 70,000, so it’s a genuine audience loss, not just a share quirk. Meanwhile, its sister station KIIS1065 fell 0.8 to 6.6%.

Triple M and NOVA96.9 both added 42,000 in cume, and even though their share barely moved or slipped slightly, it’s encouraging for both SCA and Nova, as it suggests the network is being listened to by more people, though fewer are staying loyal.

Melbourne

3AW remains Melbourne’s clear market leader, up 0.2 points to 14.2%. The bigger stories are ABC Melbourne’s strong overall rise and NOVA 100’s cume surge, which has pushed it past every other station for total reach even without topping the share ladder. ABC Melbourne was the standout this survey, up 1.4 points to 5.5% – its cume also jumped 68,000.

NOVA 100 added 0.9 to 8.9%, and its cume rose a huge 140,000 to 1,349,000, now the highest reach of any station in the market. 101.9 FOX FM was up 0.4 to 9.2%. 105.1 Triple M was the biggest faller, down 1.0 to 7.2%. SmoothFM 91.5 dropped 0.8 to 9.5%, and GOLD104.3 fell 0.7 to 10.8%. GOLD’s cume also fell 65,000, confirming a genuine audience slide rather than a measurement blip.

Brisbane

104.5 Triple M’s run atop Brisbane is over, with B105 up 0.3 to 12.0%, taking the lead as Triple M shed a heavy 1.1 points to 11.9%. KIIS973 was the standout, up a market-leading 1.2 to 10.9%. KIIS973 gained the most, up 1.2 to 10.9%, with cume also up 15,000 – clean growth across both measures.

B105 added 0.3 to take #1, though its cume fell 17,000, suggesting a smaller but more loyal audience rather than real growth. Triple M copped the steepest fall, down 1.1 to 11.9%, with cume also down 29,000 – a genuine audience loss. 4BH 1116 and 4BC 882 both dropped 0.8 points.

Adelaide

5MMM remains Adelaide’s #1 station, up 1.2 to 14.5%, extending its lead over the field. The bigger story is FIVEaa, up a market-leading 1.9 points to 10.1% – largely driven by a huge breakfast swing. FIVEaa was the standout, up 1.9 to 10.1%, with cume also up 11,000. 5MMM added 1.2 to hold #1, and NOVA91.9 gained 0.3 to 11.4%.

ABC Adelaide was the biggest faller, down 1.1 to 6.0%. KIIS1023 dropped 0.6 to 10.6%, and ABC Classic fell 0.5 to 1.7%.

Perth

NOVA93.7 remains Perth’s dominant #1 station… and then some. It’s up 1.8 points to 16.7% overall, driven by a huge breakfast surge that’s taken its top-rating show to 36.9% share, up a massive 8.4 points. GOLD96FM was the other big mover, up 1.1 to 13.1%, while ABC Perth had the roughest survey in the market.

NOVA93.7 led all gainers, up 1.8 to 16.7%. GOLD96FM added 1.1 to 13.1%, and 92.9 Triple M nudged up 0.3 to 8.6%. ABC Perth was the biggest faller, down 1.0 to 6.1% – its cume also collapsed, down 59,000 to 167,000, a genuine and significant audience loss. MIX94.5 dropped 0.7 to 12.9%, and 6iX fell 0.3 to 3.5%.
