The local star of the upcoming sequel “The Devil Wears Prada 2”, Patrick Brammall, has been confirmed to be in attendance at the upcoming red carpet gala Australia premiere, which will take place at Sydney’s State Theatre on Tuesday, April 28. Brammall, whose casting was announced last year, plays the love interest of Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs.

Brammall’s role in “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is his first big-screen part since the 2018 action-horror film “Overlord,” with the AACTA and Logie-winning Australian star filling his resume with small-screen projects ever since, including the award-winning comedy “Colin From Accounts”.

In the first “The Devil Wears Prada” film, Hathway’s main character was all eyes for Adrian Greener (“Entourage”) — but Greener is not returning for the sequel. Alongside Brammall, the newcomer cast includes “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s” Rachel Bloom, plus Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet, plus Helen J. Shen, Conrad Ricamora, Caleb Hearon and a cameo from Lady Gaga. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman are among the actors returning from the initial film. A number of cameos were cut, including “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney.

“The Devil Wears Prada 2,” will follow Streep as Runway magazine’s editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, dealing with the decline of print journalism and attempting to find her footing in a dying industry. Priestly finds herself facing off against Emily Blunt’s character, her former assistant who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising money that Priestly desperately needs.

David Frankel, who directed the 2006 film, and Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the original screenplay, will return for the sequel along with producer Wendy Finerman. Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and McKenna will executive produce the film, which will be released in Australian cinemas by 20th Century Studios on April 30, 2026.
