Colman Domingo slammed Elon Musk‘s plan for an AI-generated version of “The Odyssey.”
“By historically accurate, he means whiter than Christmas at Cracker Barrel,” Domingo joked during his stint as guest host on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday night. “Of course, this is all because Elon and his Musketeers are upset over the diversity casting of ‘The Odyssey.’”
Domingo centred much of his opening monologue on Musk, who vowed that before the end of the year, his AI tool Grok “will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.” Musk also shared a three-minute clip of an AI-generated scene adapted from the poem, which was manufactured by a user on Grok.
“And I don’t want to get technical here,” Domingo continued, “but you can’t make a historically accurate version of something that is totally made the fuck up.”
The Oscar-nominated actor is the latest in the industry to mock Musk’s recent crusade against Nolan’s adaptation. Earlier this week, the “Doctor Strange” director Scott Derrickson addressed Musk directly on X, tweeting “Clearly @elonmusk doesn’t know shit about cinema & he stopped reading in his 20s.”
Musk has railed against Nolan’s “Odyssey” long before it was released due to his perception of certain “woke” casting decisions. In March, the tech mogul wrote that “Chris Nolan is an anti-White racist” for casting Lupita Nyong’o in the role of Helen of Troy, said “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity” and called the casting an “insult” to Homer.
