“Avengers: Doomsday” is already making waves at the Australian box office, months before its release.
According to Disney, the upcoming blockbuster has generated more than $1 million in ticket presales within its first 24 hours – making it the biggest opening day of ticket presales for any film in Australia this year, as well as the highest 24-hour result in five years.
Tickets went on sale on Thursday, coinciding with the theatrical re-release of “Avengers: Endgame.” The special presentation, titled “Avengers Endgame: Encore,” has also debuted at No. 1 at the Australian box office and includes an exclusive preview of “Doomsday” ahead of its December 17th release.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously helmed “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame,” the latest instalment brings together an extensive ensemble of Marvel stars, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie and Vanessa Kirby.
The cast also features Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, Channing Tatum, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and James Marsden, among others.
The film will see heroes from three different universes brought together to confront a new existential threat, marking another major crossover for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check out the trailer below.
