‘Wicked: For Good’ Trailer: Dorothy, Tin Man and Scarecrow Debut in Part 2 of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s Musical

Elphaba and Glinda are back — for good.

Universal has released the final trailer for “Wicked: For Good,” the follow-up to the 2024 film adaptation of the hit broadway musical. The finale will release to theaters on Nov. 21.

Per the official logline for the sequel, “Set in the Land of Oz, before and after Dorothy Gale’s arrival from Kansas” — will “cover the events of the musical’s second act, following Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship being put to the test as they embrace their new respective identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North, and how the consequences of their actions will change all of Oz forever.” The new trailer shows the first looks at Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion briefly.

Wicked: For Good” will see the return of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba Throp and Glinda Upland, respectively, as well as Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Bowen Yang as Pfannee and Bronwyn James as ShenShen.

Jon M. Chu will return to direct “Wicked: For Good,” with both screenplays written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox.

The first “Wicked” grossed $756 million at the worldwide box office, ranking as the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation ever. The film received 10 Academy Award nominations, with nods in best picture, costume design, lead actress for Erivo, supporting actress for Grande, makeup and hairstyling, editing, original score, sound and visual design and production design. It won for costume design, making Paul Tazwell the first Black man to win the award, alongside production design.
