Anonymous Content, the award-winning production and management company behind “Spotlight” and “Disclaimer,” has been hit with a round of layoffs. The company is pink-slipping 15% of its staff, according to a source with knowledge of the cuts. Anonymous Content has about 150 employees.

The layoffs will hit all divisions and all levels of Anonymous Content and will commence Wednesday. The reductions come as the media business is struggling with an advertising downturn, a sluggish box office and belt-tightening at the major studios and streamers. Anonymous Content previously underwent a round of cuts in 2023.

A spokesperson for Anonymous Content declined to comment.

Anonymous Content was founded in 1999. Its list of film credits includes “Babel,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Nickel Boys,” “Winter’s Bone,” “Stillwater,” “Being John Malkovich,” and “Swan Song.” “Spotlight” won the best picture statue at the 2015 Academy Awards.

On the television and streaming front, Anonymous is behind such shows and series as “The Knick,” “Boy Swallows Universe,” “Anatomy of a Scandal,” “Shantaram,” “Defending Jacob,” “Eyes on the Prize: Hallowed Ground” and “Catch-22.”

Upcoming projects include a mini-series adaptation of “East of Eden,” as well as a new show based on “Little House on the Prairie.” Three of its films — “Christy,” “The Balloonists” and “Orwell 2+2=5” — will premiere next month at the Toronto Film Festival.

Anonymous Content’s list of management clients include Samuel L. Jackson, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Alfonso Cuarón, Margaret Qualley, Todd Phillips, Joel Edgerton, Dee Rees, Rebecca Ferguson and Paul Dano.
