Michelle Anderson has been added to the 92.9 Triple M Perth breakfast line-up alongside Basil Zempilas and Xavier Ellis.

Anderson fills the void left by Jenna Clarke.

Clarke left the program late last year to focus on an opportunity with Sky News.

Now, nine months later, Triple M’s parent company Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has announced Anderson will come on board, transforming the show into “Xav, Michelle and Baz”.

Anderson had her start on Triple M Brisbane’s “Grill Team” breakfast show alongside Ed Kavalee and Greg ‘Marto’ Martin in 2011. More recently, she was co-host of SCA’s syndicated West Australian regional show for the Hit Network alongside Allan Aldworth, before moving to 92.9 Triple M in Perth as part of the “Rush Hour” show.

Triple M said Anderson is best known as a firecracker.

“She has a deep love for random facts, conspiracy theories and great comedy,” the radio brand said. “With warmth, quick wit and a strong opinion on just about everything, it’s safe to say she’s not backwards in coming forwards.”

Tim Arnold, head of content for Triple M Perth, added to the praise.

“In Michelle’s short time on Triple M’s “Rush Hour”, we’ve been blown away by the excitement around her from our listeners,” he said. “She’s a unique broadcaster, and we’re keen to further display her talents to a broader audience.

“Michelle is an exceptional choice for our breakfast show, as we also enable Basil the flexibility to honour his increasing travel commitments as Lord Mayor now WA borders are open.”

Anderson said she’s really excited to be joining the team with Zempilas and Ellis.

“While we haven’t worked out who gets the car park – Baz and I currently share morning to afternoon – I’m sure management will iron it out,” she said.

Zempilas added that Anderson is a great talent and a fabulous addition to the team.

“I’m delighted she is joining the breakfast show, not only to help cover my Commonwealth Games absence, but also for the times I am going to need to be away to fulfil Lord Mayoral commitments,” he said.

“I want to welcome Michelle and thank Triple M for allowing me the flexibility I have asked for. I am very grateful they have been so accomodating.”

A Triple M spokesperson told Variety Australia that an announcement would be made soon about Anderson’s replacement on “Rush Hour”.

The “Xav, Michelle and Baz” show kicks off on 92.9 Triple M Perth on July 27.
