“Hamish and Andy” is once again Australia’s most popular podcast, according to the Australian Podcast Ranker.

The weekly comedy podcast with Hamish Blake and Andy Lee boasted 960,488 monthly listeners in March.

This put the podcast above last month’s leader “Casefile True Crime”, which had 922,162 monthly listeners.

The podcast version of radio’s “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” was third with 732,088. This, however, was the podcast with the largest number of downloads in March, with 2,570,181 episodes downloaded, thanks, in part, to the large number of individual episodes released.

“Hamish & Andy”, by comparison, had 2,258,540 downloads, placing it in third behind “Stuff You Should Know” (2,421,538).

Blake and Lee have previously joked that “it’s all over” when they lose the top spot on the Podcast Ranker.

“We’ve just been lucky that so many people listen to us, so we’re grateful for that,” Lee said.

“I suppose we’re humbled by [being number one], as it’s a sign that a lot of people are listening, but it’s definitely not the reason we do the podcast. We are humbled by the idea [of being number one in the Australian Podcast Ranker],” he added.

They also said they simply love putting the show together.

“And we missed the radio show when it ended, but enough of the podcast is like the radio show to scratch that itch. And then we’ve found all new great things about podcasts that we love. Because of the flexibility, I can’t see myself wanting to stop it for a very, very long time,” Lee said.

This month “The Chaser Report”, which came in at 67 with 305,219 monthly downloads and 56,895 listeners, hit another milestone.

It has now delivered three million listeners across its lifetime. The podcast is now on a two-week break and will return on April 26 in time for the Federal Election.

The biggest mover in the top 100 this month was “F1: Beyond The Grid”, which climbed 59 places to 63. It has 62,567 monthly listeners and 135,721 downloads in March.

In the top 100, the biggest fall came from “Fast Five by Fear and Greed”, down 42 spots to 59. The podcast had 69,007 listeners in March and 108,503 downloads.

The top podcast network was ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia. It had 18,912,969 monthly downloads and 4,059,451 listeners. SCA’s Listnr was third with 3,404,209 monthly listeners and 10,987,737 downloads.
