Hamish Blake and Andy Lee have extended their contract with Southern Cross Austereo (SCA).

Details of the deal were light, however SCA said it was a “long-term multi-year” extension.

The duo make both the “Hamish and Andy” weekly podcast and “Hamish and Andy’s Remembering Project”, which looks back at key moments and memories from their radio days.

SCA noted its evolving relationship with the duo, with their legacy radio show spanning over 2,500 episodes and the podcast now claiming its spot as Australia’s number one comedy offering.

Dave Cameron, SCA’s chief content officer, said: “There’s only one Hamish and Andy and we are thrilled they will remain part of the SCA family for a long time to come. We are proud to have the boys sit alongside a premium line-up of Australia’s most-loved talent at SCA, who are proven performers in both live and on-demand audio.

“Hamish and Andy’s approach to everything they do has their own distinct and ingenious brand of fun that audiences across the country continue to enjoy. We’re also very excited to announce that the boys will host highlights from their No.1 comedy podcast as a special summer Breakfast show throughout December on the Hit Network for the first time.”

Blake and Lee added: “We said we’d do 40 shows for 40 years, so I guess we are an eighth of the way there. We love doing the podcast, it’s our favourite part of the week. We look forward to providing a similar type quote in the year 2057 from a nursing home where minders allow us to pretend we are still podcasting and lie to us that heaps of people are listening.”

SCA also revealed the “Hamish and Andy” podcast would be played on the Hit Network radio stations across summer in a bid to drive more people to the popular podcast.
