Amanda Seyfried is putting the kibosh on sex scenes at this point in her career. During a conversation with Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival (via People), the Oscar nominee revealed she had “passed on a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex. Doesn’t matter [who it’s with] … I don’t wanna do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.”

“Maybe if [the project] came along again [at a later point], maybe I’d be in a different space. But I don’t wanna deal with being naked with a stranger,” Seyfried added.

The actor said being an actor “gets weirder” as she gets older because “we have to be romantic with people that we’re not romantic with. Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s really uncomfortable. But I can’t believe back in the day I was just like, ‘We gotta make out. Great! This is awesome. I know how to make out’ And it used to be so fun. It was a non-thing. It was like, ‘I get to make out with a hot person today … And they’re paying me.’”

Seyfried previously told Porter magazine that she wishes intimacy coordinators existed on film sets when she was a teenage actor. In her younger years, Seyfried purposely let herself be uncomfortable because she felt it was the only way to keep her job.

“Being 19, walking around without my underwear on – like, are you kidding me? How did I let that happen?” Seyfried said at the time. “Oh, I know why: I was 19 and I didn’t want to upset anybody and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.”

During her conversation with Baldwin, Seyfried said that she is doing a much better job these days creating boundaries for herself as an actor on and off screen.

“I have kids now who are paying attention to what I do, and so I have to be less of a pushover,” the actor said. “The other day — this is so silly — but Nina, my daughter, and I were walking across the street [in Manhattan] … and a person on our side of the street asked for a picture, and I looked at my daughter, and I said, ‘No, I’m sorry.’ And then we walked across the street and I was like, ‘How was that for you, Nina? Was that okay?’ She’s like, ‘I’m very proud of you, mama,’ And then we go to the coffee shop, and the coffee shop barista was like, ‘Can I have a picture?’ And I was like, ‘No, I’ll come back later.’ My daughter’s like, ‘I’m so proud of you for saying no.’ And I was, ‘What the fuck? She shouldn’t be saying this to me. I should be saying no.’”

Seyfried’s new rule is that if she is with her children then she will not agree to take photos with fans because “whatever [they are] going through is more important than what I’m going through.”

Seyfried most recently had one of the biggest hits of her career with “The Housemaid,” a winter blockbuster that grossed $400 million worldwide. She’s recently been making the festival rounds with her latest indie drama, “The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd,” and she voices Cinderella in Netflix’s upcoming animated movie “Steps.”
