The 2026 Emmy Awards are underway, with “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay hosting television’s biggest night.
HBO’s “The Pitt” enters this year’s ceremony as the most-nominated series, scoring 25 nods across categories – nearly double its nominations from last year. The medical drama is once again up for Outstanding Drama Series (which it won last year), while star Noah Wyle has nominations for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Directing For A Drama Series. Seven cast members have also been recognised with nominations across the supporting acting categories.
Close behind is HBO comedy “Hacks,” which earned 24 nominations for its final season, breaking the comedy record previously shared by “The Bear” and “The Studio,” which each received 23. Jean Smart is once again nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and could claim her fifth Emmy for “Hacks” and eighth overall, which would tie the record for the most Emmy wins by an actress. Hannah Einbinder, Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs are also among the show’s acting nominees.
Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay” made a strong showing in its first year, picking up 19 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series and a Lead Actor nomination for Matthew Rhys. Stephen Root, Dale Dickey and Kate O’Flynn are nominated in the supporting categories.
Fellow Apple TV newcomer “Pluribus” earned 18 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Lead Actress for Rhea Seehorn, while Carlos Manuel Vesga and Karolina Wydra received supporting nominations.
Netflix’s “Beef” leads the limited or anthology series field with 16 nominations. Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are both nominated in the lead acting categories.
Sarah Snook is carrying the flag for Australia at this year’s ceremony, with nominations for Foxtel/Binge’s “All Her Fault.”
