Comedian and creator of Netflix’s global phenomenon “Baby Reindeer” Richard Gadd has cancelled his exclusive appearance at Sydney Comedy Festival less than a month out.

Gadd was due to appear at Sydney Opera House on Monday, May 11th for a one-night-only live, onstage conversation as part of the Comedy Festival. The cancellation has been confirmed on the Sydney Opera House’s website.

“We regret to inform you that ‘In Conversation with Richard Gadd’ at Sydney Opera House on Monday, 11 May 2026 will not proceed,” a statement reads.

“All ticket purchases, including booking fees, will be refunded to your original payment method. Please allow 3-5 business days for the transaction to show on your account. The refund will be made automatically. No action is required by you.”

Gadd’s “In Conversation” event was due to explore his razor-sharp dark humour and how he blends it with deeply personal storytelling. He is the creator and star of the No. 1 streamed show on Netflix, “Baby Reindeer,” which received over 52.8 million hours of streaming within the first two weeks.

Winner of an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Affiliate Theatre for his one-man show that inspired the Netflix hit, Gadd can also be seen in Hulu’s “Wedding Season,” Peacock’s “Code 404,” Starz’s “Outlander” and has writing credits for Netflix’s “Sex Education” and the BBC’s “Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier.”

He was also due to share insights into his new TV show “Half Man,” which will be streaming on Stan. In the series, which explores themes of brotherhood, violence and sex, Gadd plays the short-fused Ruben as an adult while Stuart Campbell plays the younger version. Jamie Bell plays Ruben’s step-brother of sorts Niall. Young Niall is played by Mitchell Robertson.
