Season 2 of “Percy Jackson & the Olympians,” premiering with two episodes on Dec. 10, has a new trailer.
The trailer opens with Percy (Walker Scobell) narrating about his nightmares, which either “tell me the future or try to kill me.” As he speaks, Grover (Aryan Simhadri) is seen on a beach facing a giant tentacled monster that drags him into the sea — before Percy himself is seen in a forest being attacked by a humanoid monster and then by Luke (Charlie Bushnell), his friend who betrayed him in Season 1 to fight for the titan Kronos.
Next, Percy and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) reunite and compare notes about their premonitions, with Percy saying he’s been dreaming about Grover and Annabeth saying her dreams have been about Camp Half-Blood. Along with the cyclops Tyson (Daniel Diemer), they take a magic taxi driven by the mystical Gray sisters (Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal and Margaret Cho) back to camp, where Dionysus (Jason Mantzoukas) tells them “the danger that Camp is under is greater than you can possibly imagine,” and they see Luke poison the tree that upholds the camp’s protective barrier.
“For the key to our survival, you must quest to the Sea of Monsters,” says Tantalus (Timothy Simons) as various images are shown of Percy, Annabeth and Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn) in dangerous, stormy waters. “We take care of each other. That’s what real heroes do,” Percy says. Then a mysterious voice presumably belonging to Kronos says “Kill the son of Poseidon” — and Percy is soon shown collapsing on the battlefield from a blow delivered by Charlie. Hermes (Lin-Manuel Miranda), the messenger god who is also Charlie’s father, tells Percy, “You can’t give up on your family.” Then Percy reunites with his own father, Poseidon (Toby Stephens), who tells him not to underestimate himself.
“I’m not gonna let some stupid monsters stand in my way,” Percy says as the trailer closes.
