Just days after the announcement, Grammy and Oscar-winning producer Mark Ronson has spoken about his new memoir, “Night People: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City“, being made into a feature film.

As Variety revealed exclusively last week, the book, which was only released last week, will be adapted for the big screen by Plan B, the production company co-founded by Brad Pitt.

Plan B has had major success in recent years with blockbusters like “Moonlight”, “F1” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” as well as the Emmy-winning Netflix series “Adolescence”.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Ronson revealed that the deal was only struck two weeks ago after friend and Plan B co-president, Jeremy Kleiner, made contact.

“[Kleiner] just loved the book,” Ronson said.

“He was like, ‘I think this could be a great film.’ And for me, I’m kind of a modest guy. It’s my life.

“I was just so happy to be finished with the book. But it’s a brilliant era, and they make such brilliant films. I’m so excited to see what they want to do with it. It feels like it’s an era and a story. Whether it’s my story from that era that hasn’t quite been told.”

The film is only in development now so it is unclear what it will look like as far as getting the Hollywood treatment or an original film inspired by events in “Night People”.

“I actually don’t think they’ve even decided yet, so it could be whatever,” Ronson said.

“I think whoever the director is, the visionary who comes into it, [they are] gonna definitely lead that as well.”

However, Ronson will get to have a say in the creative, possibly even with the cast and director.

“I think so, yeah. Only if it’s Timothée Chalamet will I agree on this picture,” he joked.

“I think [Plan B] make such fucking great films and I’m just down for whatever they wanna do.”
