Daniel Monaghan has been appointed as Foxtel Group’s new Executive Director of Entertainment Content, marking a significant shift in Australia’s streaming and television landscape.
The veteran television executive will depart Paramount ANZ in February 2026 after nearly two decades at Network 10, where he has been instrumental in shaping the country’s entertainment programming.
Monaghan’s departure from Paramount represents the end of an era for the network, where he served as Senior Vice President of Content and Programming since 2021. His tenure at Network 10 began in 2008, during which he climbed the programming ranks to oversee some of Australia’s most successful television productions.
The executive’s programming portfolio reads like a who’s who of Australian reality television hits. Under his guidance, Network 10 delivered “MasterChef Australia,” “Australian Survivor,” “The Masked Singer,” “Gogglebox” and “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”
Beyond traditional television, Monaghan played a crucial role in launching Paramount+ and its local commissioning strategy. His leadership at the streaming service drove Paramount+ to become Australia’s fastest-growing streaming platform for four consecutive years.
Foxtel Group CEO Hilary Perchard expressed enthusiasm about the appointment in an internal email to staff (as per Mediaweek), highlighting Monaghan’s track record in driving audience engagement and revenue growth. “Dan’s appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to our successful entertainment services,” Perchard stated, emphasising the executive’s wealth of experience in content strategy.
The transition represents a strategic move for Foxtel Group as it continues to compete in Australia’s increasingly crowded streaming market. Monaghan will succeed Wendy Moore in the role, taking responsibility for entertainment content, strategy, and channels across both Binge and Foxtel platforms.
