The streamlined group will be led by industry vet Ron Broitman, who has been promoted to President of Global Sync. Based in Los Angeles he will report to recently appointed WMG COO Tom Corson, with additional oversight from Guy Moot, Chair & CEO of Warner Chappell Music.
Broitman will lead WMG’s sync teams around the world, including team members across Warner Chappell, Atlantic Music Group, Warner Records Group and ADA distribution. According to the announcement, the division will oversee creative pitching and marketing, new business development, licensing clearance, administration, and data analytics across all WMG sync rights globally. He previously held a similar role within WMG as its EVP and Head of Sync for the publishing and recorded-music divisions, overseeing a joint sync operation in the U.S.
“The new structure gives clients a single point of entry to WMG’s full catalog of recorded music and music publishing, creating a simpler, more efficient licensing experience,” the announcement contines. “Streamlined clearances will accelerate turnaround times, while a combined, globally coordinated approach will expand pitching reach across WMG’s roster.”
Corson said: “Ron operates at the highest level and has been a bedrock of our best-in-class sync operation over the years with his steady leadership, extensive network and deep expertise in the field. This change establishes one creative strategy, one commercial business conversation, one clearance and one admin path for all WMG sync rights globally, speeding our path to market, simplifying the client experience and expanding opportunities for our artists, songwriters and the creative community.”
Moot said: “Bringing music publishing and WMG’s recorded business together under one roof is an ambitious growth move that sets us apart from the competition and will unlock even more value for our songwriters. Our WCM team will remain embedded in our sync business to ensure our writers continue to receive the care, focus and creative pitching they deserve.”
Broitman most recently served as EVP of Global Sync for WMG’s recorded music business, with placements ranging from the Super Bowl to the “Stranger Things” finale, recently landing Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” in the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming film “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew.”
