John Bishop is returning to Australian stages this November with his tour, “John Bishop: 25 Years Of Stand Up”, celebrating 25 years in comedy.
The Liverpudlian comedian will perform across six major cities, marking a quarter-century since his first show at Manchester’s Frog and Bucket on October 2000.
His Australian tour announcement follows the conclusion of his international “Back at It” tour, which wrapped up at London’s Palladium in April after stops across Europe, the US, Canada, and New Zealand.
Reflecting on his 25-year career, Bishop said,
“I can’t believe that it will be 25 years since I first performed at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester. It’s been a rollercoaster! And I can’t thank the fans enough who have supported me all the way,” he said. “I wanted to mark the anniversary with a brand-new tour – I really hope you can come and celebrate with me.”
From humble beginnings performing to just a few people, Bishop quickly rose to success, selling out arenas within three years and releasing the fastest-selling stand-up DVD in UK history.
Beyond stand-up, Bishop has built a broad career in television. His documentary series John Bishop’s Australia and John Bishop’s Britain captured his travels, while The John Bishop Show and John Bishop’s Only Joking showcased his range as a performer. He has also appeared in dramatic roles, including Doctor Who, and created documentary content such as John & Joe Bishop: Life After Deaf. His four-series series John Bishop: In Conversation With… featured in-depth interviews with notable figures from entertainment, music, and sports.
Last year, Bishop expanded into theatre, starring alongside Ian McKellen in Mother Goose, which included a successful run in London’s West End.
