On Thursday, July 3, Stan Sport is debuting the first major competition to hit the platform from Nine’s expanded football rights slate — the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025™, with all 31 matches getting the live and on demand treatment on the streaming platform.

This is the platform’s first entry into a football-heavy chapter, following the announcement that Nine had acquired exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, Japan’s J.League and the U.S. NWSL.

Amanda Laing, Managing Director, Streaming and Broadcast at Nine, said: “UEFA Women’s EURO 2025™ marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Stan Sport – and there’s no better tournament to lead the way. It’s a showcase of world-class talent, fierce national pride, and the rising influence of women’s football on the global stage.”

Laing continues, “With the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, J.League and the National Women’s Soccer League also joining the schedule, we’re building a destination that reflects our ambition – to deliver a richer, more connected football experience to fans across Australia.”

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, the 14th edition of the premier event, will be held in Switzerland. A lineup of 16 of Europe’s top national teams will be divided into four groups, with the top two from each advancing into the knockout stage.

The championship kicks off on Thursday, July 3, with a double-header of Finland v Iceland (2 a.m. AEST) and Switzerland v Norway (5 a.m. AEST), with matches available live and on demand all the way to the final on Monday, July 28.

This premium offering will run well into the rest of the 2025/26 season. The Premier League kicks off on Saturday, August 16, live and on demand, with select matches available to stream in 4k. Optus Sport subscribers need not worry either — Optus CEO Stephen Rue promised a smooth transition of the content.

“Optus Sport customers and the game of football will be in great hands at Stan, and we know the game will receive the broadcasting priority it deserves from an organisation whose speciality is delivering quality sports programming to its customers.”
