Duran Duran Sets Halloween Concert Film ‘Secret Oktober’

Duran Duran continues to corner the Halloween holiday, this time with a concert film and the expanded release of their recent concept album, “Danse Macabre.”

The Rock Hall-inducted British band unveils a new live concert flick, “Secret Oktober,” which drops exclusively on StagePlayer+ from Friday, October 25th – just in time for Halloween.

Filmed at Las Vegas’ Wynn Theatre on October 31st, 2022, “Secret Oktober” presents the origin story of Duran Duran’s latest studio album, “Danse Macabre,” a Halloween-inspired collection of covers, updates and fresh cuts, which opened at No. 4 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart on its release last year.

The concert film was recorded at the Encore Theatre at Wynn, with founding band members Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor in full costume, flanked by 20-foot high skeletons, tombstones, cobwebs, coffins and ghouls and more.

On the night, Duran Duran delivered their first live performance of “Secret Oktober” since 2011, hit “Love Voodoo” for the first time since 2017, and played “Nightboat” for the first time 2005. Le Bon and Co. also ran through covers of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Spellbound,” Cerrone’s “Supernature” and The Specials’ “Ghost Town.”

“Secret Oktober” carries the name of the fan-favourite b-side to “Union of the Snake,” from 1983. A reimaged version of the track appears on the extended collection “Danse Macabre – De Luxe,” the CD and vinyl box set for which is released Friday through Tape Modern under exclusive license to BMG.

The concert film follows 2022’s “A Hollywood High,” shot atop The Aster in Los Angeles, and framed against the iconic Capitol Records building.

Duran Duran has enjoyed a comeback for the ages. During a 12-month span from 2021-22, the new wave legends dropped a 15th studio album, “Future Past,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Official U.K. Chart; they performed at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in the band’s birthplace, Birmingham, England; headlined an open-air show at London’s Hyde Park, with 70,000 fans looking on, and performed at the Platinum Party in the Palace, celebrating the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. The act was also inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, after loyal Duranies ensured their heroes led the fan vote.
