Mushroom Group’s iconic Melbourne headquarters is officially up for sale.
9 Dundas Lane in Albert Park has been home to the music company for almost half a century, and some of the country’s biggest acts launched their careers in those walls, including Kylie Minogue, Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Split Enz and Skyhooks.
Frontier Touring, which has also been responsible for Australian and New Zealand tours from the likes of Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and the Foo Fighters, was also founded at the Dundas Lane office.
“Dundas Lane has been an incredible part of Mushroom’s history and is globally renowned in the music industry. I’ve been coming here my entire life, and it’s hard to overstate what this place means to everyone at Mushroom,” Chief Executive Matt Gudinski said on Wednesday.
“As we look ahead, finding the right custodian to carry Dundas Lane’s storied history into its next chapter is incredibly important to us. It will be sad to leave so many memories behind, but we’re excited for what the future might hold for this iconic address.”
Marshall White, in conjunction with Stonebridge and acting under instructions from Advise Transact, have been appointed to represent the property.
Mushroom first moved to Dundas Lane in 1980, eight years after the late Michael Gudinski founded the business in St Kilda in 1972.

“There’s a genuine residential conversion story here. The scale of the floorplate, the corner light from three street frontages and that warehouse volume are exactly what buyers look for when they’re reimagining a building as a home rather than an office,” Marshall White agent, Oliver Bruce said.
