The Australian production of “Mrs. Doubtfire” has rounded out its cast ahead of the musical’s premiere in Melbourne later this year.

Based on the hit 1993 film starring Robin Williams, “Mrs. Doubtfire” follows out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard, who creates the identity of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in an attempt to remain close to his children following a messy divorce.
The Australian production was first announced in February, with Melbourne confirmed as the first local city to host the musical. It will open at the Princess Theatre in November 2026 before heading to Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from March 2027.
Four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks directs the production. His Broadway credits include “The Music Man,” starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, “Hello, Dolly!,” “Meteor Shower” and “A Bronx Tale.” Across his career, Zaks has received eight Tony nominations, winning four.
The stage adaptation previously ran in London’s West End for almost two years and has also played on Broadway and toured the United States, Germany, South Korea and Brazil.
