“Bluey” is returning to cinemas across the U.K., Ireland and Europe this spring with a new collection of episodes.
Vue Lumière will release “Bluey at the Cinema: Playdates with Friends Collection” in the U.K. and Ireland on March 27, while Piece of Magic Entertainment will roll it out across Spain, Poland, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg in the spring.
The hour-long cinema experience brings together eight episodes from across the show’s three series, united around themes of play, friendship and family. The compilation spotlights some of the series’ best-loved games, including Shadowlands and Octopus, alongside friendship-centered episodes such as Circus and Slide.
The new collection follows the franchise’s two previous theatrical outings – “Bluey at the Cinema: Family Trip Collection” (August 2024) and “Bluey at the Cinema: Let’s Play Chef Collection” (May 2025) – which together surpassed 1 million admissions collectively across EMEA. “Playdates with Friends Collection” was curated by BBC Studios and Ludo Studio.
“’Bluey at the Cinema’ has become a really special way for families to come together and experience the show in a shared, joyful setting,” said Dwayne Clarke, head of marketing for ‘Bluey’ – U.K. and EMEA. “We’re incredibly grateful to the BBC Studios Kids and Family team, alongside Joe Brumm and Ludo Studio, whose creativity and care continue to shape the world of ‘Bluey.’”
Johnny Carr, head of event cinema and distribution at Vue Lumière, called “Bluey” a “true event for family audiences,” adding that the success of previous releases demonstrated how much families enjoy experiencing the show on the big screen.
Caspar Nadaud, CEO and founder of Piece of Magic Entertainment, said: “The continued enthusiasm from families and exhibitors shows just how special ‘Bluey’ is and the resonance it has on the big screen.”
