HBO Max has confirmed it will play host to the upcoming 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards, after securing the exclusive Australian broadcast rights.

Bringing one of the world’s most respected celebrations of film directly to Australian screens, BAFTA honours the finest creative talent across film, games and television.

This year’s ceremony promises standout moments, red carpet glamour, and appearances from the industry’s most influential performers, directors and creators. Scottish actor, writer, producer and presenter Alan Cumming will host the ceremony.

“One Battle After Another” leads this year’s nominations with 14, followed closely by “Sinners” with 13. “Hamnet” and “Marty Supreme” are both up for 11 awards, while “Frankenstein” and “Sentimental Value” are up for eight. “I Swear” and “Bugonia” have been nominated in five categories, while “The Ballad of Wallis Island,” “Pillion” and “F1” have been nominated in three.

Australians Rose Byrne and Jacob Elordi are among the nominees. It marks Byrne’s first BAFTA nomination.

The nominees for the EE Rising Star Award, as announced last month, are Archie Madekwe, Chase Infiniti, Miles Caton, Posy Sterling and Robert Aramayo. It is the only award voted for by the British public and it is presented annually to a performer who has demonstrated exceptional talent early in their careers.
