The fourth season of global hit, “Welcome to Wrexham,” has a premiere date for Australia.

Disney+ has confirmed that the award-winning FX series will premiere on Friday, May 16th with the first two episodes, while the remaining six will be released weekly on the streaming platform.

First released on Disney+ in 2021, “Welcome to Wrexham” follows Hollywood stars and Wrexham co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ purchase of one of professional football’s oldest clubs and their rise to success, including two successive promotions.

Disney+ said of the new season in a statement this week: “As they continue to rise in the pyramid, the stakes get higher with a new level of intensity, competition and costs, all while the Club continues to be plagued with injury and fans demand the signing of new talent. Dedicated staff and supporters celebrate the team’s climb toward the Premiership while bracing against the new-found challenges that come with each new tier up the EFL. Will Wrexham AFC rise to the challenge and do what no team has ever done before?”

The news comes amidst reports from Nine News, via Sporting News, that Wrexham are plotting a visit to Australia this year for a friendly match against the A-League’s Melbourne Victory.

McElhenney also teased an Australian trip in a recent interview with Variety Australia, saying: “Maybe we go on an international tour with a certain club to a certain continent?”

“Our third biggest… audience for ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ is Australia. No. 1 US, No. 2 UK, No 3. is Australia, which I find fascinating.”

An Australian trip would be a first for the club founded all the way back in 1864.

“There is a lot of love for Wrexham [in Australia],” McElhenney continued. “Who knows? Maybe we might bring the club to you instead of the other way around.”

“Welcome to Wrexham” is executive produced by McElhenney, Reynolds, Josh Drisko, Bryan Rowland, Jeff Luini, Ker, Nick Frenkel, George Dewey and Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma, and Andy Thomas. “Welcome to Wrexham” is produced by More Better Productions, Maximum Effort Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment and Boardwalk Pictures.
