One of Australia’s most prominent film producers, Jodi Matterson, is joining the speaker lineup for the upcoming Women in Media National Conference at ICC Sydney this August.

A powerhouse producer of Australian film and CEO of Silent Firework Group, Matterson is a pioneer of Australian filmmaking and a major advocate for pushing local projects onto global screens. Her recent work includes credits on notable Australian works like “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart,” “The Dry,” “Strife,” “Wolf Like Me” and “The Last Anniversary.”

Through her work, Matterson has broken streaming records and topped box office charts worldwide, working behind the scenes with stars like Sigourney Weaver, Nicole Kidman, Eric Bana and Teresa Palmer.

That kind of work gives her a key insight into audience results and industry intel, as such she’s set to headline one of the conference’s keynote events when she joins some of Australia’s leading voices in media on August 15.

Matterson will specifically appear at “Rewriting Women, Reshaping Culture”, a headline session on the conference program framed as a discussion on how women storytellers are reframing cultural conversations, with behind-the-scenes insights from Matterson and other creators on how the media industry is being reshaped and what audiences want most.

“Jodi Matterson’s work speaks for itself – bold, original, and always character-led,” said Women in Media General Manager Kym Middleton. “She brings a deep understanding of what audiences connect with and why storytelling matters to us and the world in we live in.”

Other speakers at the conference include leaders from across Australian media; Nine Streaming and Broadcast MD Amanda Laing, Mamamia Executive Editor Jessie Stephens, actress and producer Claudia Karvan (“Bump”), Screen Australia CEO Deirdre Brennan and the Federal Minister for Women, the Hon. Katy Gallagher.

The Women in Media National Conference will take place on August 15 at the ICC Sydney, and tickets are on sale now.
