Michael Theo, a fan-favourite from Love on the Spectrum, takes a comedy turn for ABC’s “Austin.”

“Austin” follows the tale of popular children’s author Julian Hartswood (Ben Miller) who inadvertently unleashes a social media storm, a moment of stupidity that threatens to prematurely end his career and that of his illustrator wife Ingrid (Sally Phillips).

Enter Theo as the titular character, the neurodivergent son that Julian never knew existed.

DNA tests, awkward family dinners and flirty moments follow, and Austin finds himself in the U.K. on a journey that he describes as the “single best thing I’ve ever done.”

Filmed in Canberra, and produced by Northern Pictures with Lincoln Pictures for the ABC, “Austin” is an eight-part series, set to premiere Sunday, June 9 at 8pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.

“Austin” is supported with major production investment from the ABC in association with Screen Australia, the ACT Government and Screen Canberra, with post-production assistance from the NSW Government in association with ITV Studios.

Theo made his small-screen debut for the uplifting docuseries “Love on the Spectrum,” a dating show with a twist which follows seven singles on the autism spectrum as they take their first steps into complication world of relationships. Available on ABC and Netflix, “Love on the Spectrum” won the 2022 International Emmy Award for Non-Scripted Entertainment.

“Austin” marks Theo’s acting debut.
