“Mastermind” Season 5 will screen on SBS and SBS On Demand from Monday, Feb. 13.

Quizmaster Marc Fennell is back to help find Australia’s next Mastermind Champion across 85 episodes. According to broadcaster SBS, this will involve Fennell asking over 14,000 questions to more than 220 contenders.

Each night from Monday to Thursday, four contenders will face each other for a chance to win and make it through to the weekly final on Friday. The winner of each of the weekly finals will advance to the semi-finals, eventually competing against other winners at the end of the season for the title of Australia’s Mastermind.

Contenders this season have specialist subject areas including the life and works of Henri Vieuxtemps, Hollywood stars of the 1930s, Anne Boleyn, Tori Amos, Greek mythology, Virginia Woolf, the history of Frisbees, Eurovision and “Back to the Future”.

Fennell said: “We may have a new set that looks like I’ve just stepped out of Tron, but the core of the show remains as classic as ever. I love the purity of “Mastermind” – bloody tough questions, incredible contenders and I get to channel my favourite Bond villains in the quizmaster chair – that ain’t bad either.”

“Mastermind” Season 5 will wrap up on Friday, June 9.

The series is a BBC U.K. format and is produced for SBS by BBC Studios.
