‘Australian Survivor’ Finale Delivers 10 its Biggest Audience of the Year

“Australian Survivor” came to its conclusion on Monday night, crowning Mark Wales as the sole survivor.

The winner reveal segment had an average of 813,000 viewers nationally, with a peak of 858,000 viewers. Of the national viewers, 631,000 came from the five metro capital cities.

Channel 10 revealed this was the station’s biggest audience of the year and lifted its timeslot 236% compared to the same night last year.

The main ‘Australian Survivor’ episode, meanwhile, has 710,000 viewers nationally and a peak of 890,000. Just over 550,000 of these were capital city viewers.

This audience was up 22% week-on-week and lifted 10’s timeslot 120% compared with the same night last year.

The show’s total audience is likely to grow further, with last week’s Monday night episode benefiting from a 44% lift on overnight figures with both seven-day time shifted numbers and those tuning in via broadcast video on demand (BVOD).

It was the conclusion of Channel 9’s “Married At First Sight”, however, which dominated both linear and BVOD viewing last night.

The final episode of “MAFS” for the year had 1.207 million tuning in in the metro markets and 456,000 in the regions.

A further 318,000 tuned in via BVOD, taking the total viewing audience of “MAFS” to 1.981 million.

The Nine Network said the live BVOD audience – those who watched it online at the same time as the linear broadcast – was 176,000, making it the “highest ever live BVOD audience for an entertainment program”. The live BVOD audience was also up 93% on last year’s figures.

Following “MAFS”, Nine aired the second episode of its “Underbelly: Vanishing Act” series about alleged fraudster Melissa Caddick.

The first episode on Sunday night had a metro overnight figure of 719,000. With the addition of 322,000 regional viewers and 91,000 on BVOD, Nine said “Underbelly: Vanishing Act” had a total of 1.132 million overnight.

Monday night’s episode rated even higher, with a metro average of 745,000. In the regions, 330,000 tuned in, while so far its BVOD audience is 94,000, taking its total to 1.169 million.
