Netflix and The Post Lounge are seeking applications for a full-time assistant editor attachment for a new music feature documentary.

The placement is part of the Netflix Grow Creative program which it said aims to build and nurture a pipeline of creative talent. It is particularly focused on areas where the industry faces workforce shortages.

Netflix said the attachment will gain hands-on experience and work with a highly accomplished post-production team, including the first assistant editor and the editorial team.

In the 15-week placement, they will be provided with editing system Premiere to perform some of the daily assistant editor responsibilities, as well as assisting with the management of all media, providing basic technical support to the edit team.

The role includes hands-on experience assisting with the ingest of footage from multiple cameras and shooting formats as well as assisting with the creation of the turnover materials to the picture, sound and music department for the finishing process.

Netflix said the person in the role will gain a greater understanding of post-production workflows and systems and help ensure that the early stage of post production runs as smoothly as possible.

It is a highly technical position, so some previous experience with editing software is preferred, Netflix said.

The role will be based in Sydney, New South Wales.

Separate to this opportunity, The Post Lounge recently received a grant from Screen Queensland, allowing it to hire an assistant sound editor.

The Netflix and The Post Lounge placement starts in August. Applications are open until Aug. 2.
