Sylvia D’Souza is the Seven Network’s first head of reality.

D’Souza has been with the Seven Network since 2017, accumulating series producer and executive producer credits on titles including “Bride and Prejudice”, “Zumbo’s Just Desserts”, “SAS Australia”, “Farmer Wants A Wife”, “MKR”, “House Rules” and “Seven Year Switch”.

She’s previously held roles at the likes of Endemol Shine Australia, CJZ and Nine Network, working on shows including “Married At First Sight”, “Travel Guides”, “Bondi Rescue”, “MasterChef Australia” and “Australian Survivor”.

As the Seven Network’s first head of reality, she will report to Andrew Backwell, seven’s director of production, and be charged with leading the network’s slate of reality programs.

Backwell said: “Sylvia has been an invaluable member of the Seven team for many years and I’m delighted she has agreed to take on this important new role, leading the production of many of our current hit shows and some fantastic new shows for next year and beyond.”

D’Souza said it’s a privilege to be entrusted to lead Seven’s slate of reality shows.

“I am excited about what’s to come and grateful to production and programming gods Andrew Backwell and Angus Ross and the many talented producers and production teams we work with who help bring these shows to life,” she said.

D’Souza’s promotion follows the appointment of Majella Wiemers last month, who took on the new role of head of entertainment. Wiemers joined the Seven Network from ITV Studios.

The Seven Network has also recently announced new reality productions including “Heartbreak Island” and “Million Dollar Island“.
