SPA Awards Issues Call for Entries for 2022 Ceremony

Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is calling for entries to the 2022 SPA Awards.

The Awards celebrate creativity and storytelling within the Australian screen production industry,

SPA said the Awards are the only program to be voted solely by production businesses whose work drives the industry.

“The Awards are peer-voted and aim to capture the full scope of screen production and producers involved from across Australia,” the industry body said.

“Since the inaugural Awards in 2000, many of Australia’s most iconic producers have received accolades, awarding the industry the opportunity to celebrate the successes of producers and production businesses who have gone to great lengths in taking Australian stories to the world.”

Eligibility criteria bas been extended to encompass July 1, 2021 toDec. 31, 2022.

Winners will be revealed on the final night of the 2023 Screen Forever conference on May 5 on the Gold Coast.

Earlybird entries are now open, offering a 40% reduction in fees until Sept. 30.

Categories for the 2022 SPA Awards include Drama Series Production of the Year, Telemovie or Miniseries Production of the Year, Breakthrough Business of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award.

Last year, Porchlight Films’ “Fisk” won Comedy Program or Series Production of the Year, “Bluey” Season 2 from Ludo Studio took home Children’s Series Production of the Year, Northern Pictures’ “Love on the Spectrum” was awarded Reality Series Production of the Year, and “The Newsreader” from Werner Film Productions was named Drama Series Production of the Year.
