Fran Kelly will host a new weekly entertainment chat show on ABC TV.

The show, titled “Frankly”, commenced production today.

It will take place in front of a live studio audience with a house rock band, and screen on Friday nights later this year.

The ABC said Kelly will have “frank yet fun” chats with some of the biggest names and brains in Australia and from around the globe, whether they be actors, musicians, comedians, big thinkers or change-makers.

Kelly is the former host of “RN Breakfast” on ABC’s Radio National, a gig she gave up last year.

The national broadcaster said she would bring across her style which makes audiences laugh, think and be entertained.

Head of ABC entertainment, Nick Hayden, echoed this sentiment.

“Fran brings such a warmth and depth of intelligence, we couldn’t be more excited to invite the audience in to hear her chat with the most interesting and electrifying people on the planet,” he said.

Kelly said she’s so excited about “Frankly”.

“Leaving “RN Breakfast” was bittersweet – I’m loving the sleep-ins, but missing all those incredible conversations with fabulous guests from around Australia and the world,” she said.

“People have been asking ever since what’s next for me. Well this is it and I can’t wait. More great conversations, a live audience and my own brand. What’s not to be excited about. It’s such a privilege and going to be so much fun.”

The ABC Entertainment production will go to air later in 2022.

The ABC recently celebrated its 90th anniversary and has also commenced production on “Old People’s Home for Teenagers” and “Turn Up The Volume“.
