ABC Reveals Line Up for 90th Birthday Celebrations

“ABC 90 Celebrate” will screen on Thursday, June 30 at 8 p.m. to mark the public broadcaster’s 90th birthday.

Ahead of the milestone broadcast, the ABC has released its programming plans.

The television and streaming event will be hosted by Zan Rowe, Tony Armstrong and Craig Reucassel and will cross to various personalities, events and locations across the country.

Australian music icon Marcia Hines will be joined by members of Hobart’s Conservatorium of Music Gospel Choir at Hobart’s Festival of Voices event as she performs hit songs from her latest album of Gospel classics.

Singer-songwriter Missy Higgins will also perform from Rungutjirpa (Simpsons Gap) in Alice Springs, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will perform alongside guest vocalists Jason Arrow, Casey Donovan, Kate Miller-Heidke, Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole.

Presenters on the night will include Anghared ‘Rad’ Yeo, Costa Georgiadis, Christine Anu, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, Dylan Lewis, Indira Naidoo, Jack Evans, Jeremy Fernandez, Justine Clarke, Karina Carvalho, Marc Fennell, Monica Trapaga, Myf Warhurst, Richard Morecroft and Sammy J.

Other guests – including Adam Liaw, Amy Shark, Annabel Crabb, Bjorn Ulaveus, Bryce Mills, Cate Blanchett, Christine Anu, Daniel Browning, Hunter Page-Lochard, Ebony Boadu, Kev Carmody, Leah Purcell, Leigh Sales, Magda Szubanski, Michael Hing, Molly Meldrum, Namilla Benson, Richard Roxburgh, Roy & HG, Ross Wilson, Steph Tisdell and Wil Anderson – will take audiences through a nostalgic journey of the programs and people that have made an impact across the ABC’s 90 years.

Australian cook, Maggie Beer, has also created an ABC 90th anniversary birthday cake recipe.

The ABC flagged that there were even more surprises to come, and said the event will “truly showcase the value of the ABC and its vision for the future”.

“ABC 90 Celebrate” will have Cathie Scott and Gavin Jarrett as executive producers.
