“Footwerk” is the name of a new Friday night club and dance program on youth radio platform Cada.

Cada is an ARN radio brand, available on 96.1 in Sydney (formerly The Edge) as well as DAB+ and online in other markets. It has been reframed as a national hip hop and R&B music and content platform.

“Footwerk” will go to air every Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with Gold Fang, DJ Sarah Morgan, Munasib and Carolina Gasolina acting as hosts.

ARN said Gold Fang will “bring futuristic sounds and dancehall party anthems”, while DJ Sarah adds “essential dance music tracks” and Munasib will showcase “the best club tunes from around the world”. Carolina Gasolina, meanwhile, will “[connect] us to the world of Latin music, reggaeton, baile funk and so much more”.

ARN launched Cada on Mar. 31, with the aim of connecting with 15 to 29-year-olds.

Music industry veteran Marty Doyle, who came on board as head of content for the new brand late last year, has previously said music isn’t just a hobby for Cada, it’s an obsession.

“We’re not just about putting songs on the radio, but championing artists and their voices, while being on the pulse of exactly what’s worthwhile in music,” he said at launch.

“Our presenters and talent are filled to the brim with passion for what they do and are actively contributing to culture, building creative communities around their content and bringing those audiences with them to their new home at Cada. Cada will be working closely with them to create multi-platform content that celebrates and amplifies music, people and culture.”

Emily Copeland, the platform’s general manager, previously said the platform fills a void for the industry, advertisers and listeners.

“I think that the music industry has been waiting for a platform like Cada, which can support local artists but also global artists right through their careers – so from emerging right the way through to established – but also that we’re giving artists the ability to reach national audiences, and not just through audio content, but also through socials and videos, which means that artists have got this ability to reach quite a large audience with us,” she said.

“And hip hop and R&B lovers have finally got this national audio platform dedicated to the genre.”
