The remake of a beloved 90’s baseball classic and the story of a thrilling real-life rescue mission are coming to Prime Video this August.
On August 12th, “A League of Their Own” hits the streaming platform. A TV reboot of Penny Marshall’s 1992 original, the sports comedy-drama tells the story of a generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball.
Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Madonna famously starred in the original, with Abbi Jacobson (“Broad City”) and D’Arcy Carden (“The Good Place”) among the actors tasked with replacing them. The film version of “A League of Their Own” was inducted into the US National Film Registry in 2012, so expectations are high for this TV adaptation.
A star-studded cast including Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell, and Joel Edgerton lead “Thirteen Lives”, Ron Howard’s take on the incredible rescue mission that saved a Thai soccer team from the Tham Luang cave in 2018. Faced with difficult odds, a team of the world’s most skilled and experienced divers joined with Thai forces and over 10,000 volunteers to attempt a harrowing rescue of the twelve boys and their coach.
“Thirteen Lives” is in capable hands, with Howard one of his generation’s finest directors of biographical films (“Rush”, “Frost/Nixon”, “Cinderella Man”, “A Beautiful Mind”).
