“My Mum Your Dad” will hit screens later this year as Nine tries its hands at another dating reality format.

Radio and media stalwart Kate Langbroek will present the series about single parents looking for love.

The twist, Nine said, is that contestants don’t realise their adult children will be secretly guiding them through the perils of modern dating.

The broadcaster said it will be a heartfelt series which explores how well kids really know their parents and whether people can trust their offspring to choose the right partner for them.

“While this group of brave mums and dads are gathered at a luxury retreat, their kids have taken up residence in a remote bunker to watch their parents’ every move. Not only do they have their parents under surveillance, they also have a big hand in who they date as their parents navigate new territory in the hope of finding their forever person,” the announcement for the show said ahead of Nine’s Upfronts event.

“These parents will find themselves in a raw and vulnerable position that their kids have never seen before. From touching, major breakthroughs and shocking confessions to funny, unguarded moments, the parents lay it all on the line in the quest for love.”

“My Mum, Your Dad” is produced by ITV Studios Australia for the Nine Network.

At Nine’s Upfront event, the broadcaster also unveiled a significant shake-up to its streaming platform 9Now, indicating it is shifting towards being a digital-first broadcaster instead of its traditional focus on linear television.

It also made a number of other programming announcements including a new drama series “Human Error”, a special event series “Australia’s Most Identical”, a new reality competition format “The Summit”, a local version of “Gordon Ramsay’s Food Stars” and a two-part dramatisation of Shane Warne’s life.
