Sidney Prescott will return for “Scream 8.”
Neve Campbell confirmed that she will reprise her role as the ultimate final girl after Sidney survived her latest run-in with the Ghostface-masked killers in “Scream 7.”
The 2025 movie was a major box office success, tallying the 30-year-old franchise’s biggest opening ever ($97.2 million worldwide) and ultimately becoming the series’ highest-grossing instalment ($208 million worldwide against a $45 million budget). As a result, Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures, which distributes the films, quickly began developing “Scream 8.”
Campbell confirmed her involvement on Monday during an interview with the Associated Press, promoting her role in the Netflix series “Black Doves.”
“‘Scream 8.’ That’s in the pipeline as well,” Campbell said, listing the meta-horror movie among her upcoming projects. When pressed for further details about what Sidney will face this time around, she demurred. “You know I can’t tell you anything about Scream 8,” Campbell said, laughing. “I’ll be in it.”
Campbell has starred in six out of the seven “Scream” movies, taking a break for 2023’s “Scream 6” following a contract dispute. She returned for “Scream 7” after receiving a reported $7 million salary to play Sidney again.

At the time, she told CBS Mornings that she “didn’t think I could live with myself” if she accepted the offer to return for “Scream 6” knowing that her “value to this franchise was bigger than what had been offered.” “I just didn’t feel right.. For me, I needed to make that choice,” she said.
In 2022, Campbell told Variety that she would not be returning for the sixth instalment because she felt “the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”
