Days of Thunder” star Randy Quaid sounded off on Anne Hathaway after it was revealed that she has joined Tom Cruise in the racing drama’s upcoming sequel.

“We need Nicole [Kidman] back,” Quaid wrote on X Saturday. “Don’t be a pussy, [Tom Cruise]. You need the original girl. It’s not personal; it’s filmmaking. Anne isn’t sexy, because and if you haven’t noticed, she’s pregnant.”

He added in a follow-up post, “Anne Hathaway is a leftist, woke, horrible choice for ‘DAYS OF THUNDER’ NASCAR audience who are MAGA. The sexy older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole. That’s the casting that would sell the idea. It’s interesting because when we made the first one there was also a rush to get it out; editors slept in the cutting room on shifts. This is a weird thing, like they want it to come out and tank.”

Reps for Paramount and Hathaway did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for comment.

In the original “Days of Thunder,” Quaid played Tim Daland, the owner of the racing team that recruits Cruise’s up-and-coming driver Cole Trickle. As noted by Quaid, Nicole Kidman played Dr. Claire Lewicki, the romantic lead in the film. Other cast members include Robert Duvall, Cary Elwes and John C. Reilly. Tony Scott served as director.

Variety exclusively reported Hathaway’s involvement in the “Days of Thunder” sequel. Paramount has slated the film for a June 2028 theatrical release. The project was shot for Imax and will hit screens nearly 40 years after the original.
