Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid revealed to CNN that Adam Sandler‘s officiant speech to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce during their July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden included the touching advice: “Kiss every chance you have. Every day. Whether you’re going to bed or going to work. Whenever, go ahead and kiss her.”
“Adam Sandler did a phenomenal job with the ceremony,” added Reid, noting that Sandler’s advice was “really touching” in the room. “How he went about bringing a little bit of humor and a bit of sensitivity to what was going on. There was a lot of people from different worlds, and he brought them all together.”
Sandler’s surprise officiant duties at Swift and Kelce’s wedding was confirmed in a press release that was blasted during the evening of July 3 after the couple tied the knot. The statement included the information: “Taylor & Travis did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen. Instead, her brother Austin Swift served as Taylor’s Man of Honor and Jason Kelce was Travis’ Best Man. The ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler.”
Kelce had a cameo in Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” which streamed on Netflix last year. Sandler appeared on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast during the comedy sequel’s press tour.
“Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell,” Sandler told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.”
Sandler was one of the hundreds of A-list talent who attended Swift’s wedding, which reportedly had a guest list of 1,000 names. Celebrities pictured in formal attire walking to the wedding included Ed Sheeran, Bradley Cooper, Zoë Kravitz, Jack Antonoff, Gigi Hadid, Dakota Johnson, Ethan Hawke, MGK, Jason Sudeikis, Hugh Grant and Camila Cabello.
