Prime Video’s “The Boys” took over Sydney’s Luna Park on Monday night, with Kiwi actor Karl Urban joined by special guests for a night of chaos inspired by the unapologetically outrageous world of the series.
To celebrate the global hit series’ fifth and final season, Urban – who plays Billy Butcher in the series – walked the red carpet alongside additional media personalities, including Nina Oyama, April Rose Pengilly, Jean Tong, Justin Hill, Nick Brown, Jana Bartolo, Danijela Dacic and Aicha Robertson.
Throughout the night, guests explored a series of themed activation spaces inspired by the world of “The Boys,” from adopting the power of Butcher’s tentacles and A-Train’s super speed, to drinking questionable shots from the Milk Bar and an installation of Laser Babies.
Urban also took part in a special Q&A out the front of the amusement park, hosted by Smallzy, before the night culminated with the iconic Luna Park face taken over by a suped-up spectacle dedicated to the Emmy Award-winning series in front of more than 500 fans.
“The Boys” is based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers. It’s fifth and final season will stream from April 8th with two episodes, followed by a new episode each week until the series finale on May 20th.
Season 5 “is Homelander’s world.” Per the synopsis: “Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a ‘Freedom Camp.’ Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.”
The first two episodes premiered last Wednesday (April 8th), with episodes now dropping weekly until the season finale on May 20th.
